A List

I've been thinking about making a list of my own. I don't really know what this list is about but then again, I don't know what anyone else's lists are about either. So I'm thinking the important part is the actual list, not what the list is about. Also it should be coded in colors. I'm not sure what the colors mean but I've been assured they have meaning. I've been told that lawyers have something to do with this list. All lawyers will be colored yellow. Take from that what you will. So then, apropo of nothing, I give to you, my list:

Tenshi Vielle
Nephilaine Protagonist (you said purple right?)
Logan Bauer
Mourna Biziou
Prokofy Neva
Lum The Mad (he'll get mad if I .. oh, wait...)
Encore Mayne (one good list deserves another)
Iris Seale
Isle Lunasea
Zorena Deckard
Lucifer Baphomet
Io Zeno
Raven Halaan
Dancien Graves (would he like, kill me, if I made him pink?)
Taco F. Rubio, esq. (he doesn't go in yellow cause he has to be green)

Cale Vinson
Joy Honey
Nethermind Bliss
Delora Starbrook
Jory Watler
Phoenix Psaltry
Sansarya
Bard Jameson
Lordfly
Ramonna Villota
Wendy
Jen
Lyla Shephard

*sigh* This is getting boring. How do people work up the energy for these lists. Geesh I need vodka and a B multi-vitamin just to stay awake here. If you want on the list leave a comment and I'll consider. Bribery and flatter work wonders. Just saying....

Its very hard to keep up with all the people who want to be on this list. And where is the flattery and bribes I ask you? Not. one. cent. yet. Come on people I need your monies.

At the SCD Prom

I got a lot of compliments on the gown I wore to the SCD Prom last night (and by the way you can see a whole lot of pictures here -- you must log into Flickr to see them) so I wanted to blog it in full. Isle is having a fantastic Friday Focus and she would be very cross with me if I glomed onto her day -- so I thought I'd do the outfit here. Also because this is my blog and not SCD, I can do large pics, break the format, and Ten will not do strange things to body parts I treasure. Bonus!

I seem to have a facelight attached to my left buttcheek. Not sure whats up with that but I'm not reshooting this so you will have to deal.

I just love the way all the components came together on this outfit.

Thank you to everyone who came and had fun at the Prom.

High prices

Don't you just hate it when you see someone wearing something fabulous so you right click on them and teleport into this new place only to find out that one blouse cost L$380 so instead of buying you teleport right the hell out?

If you think this is about your shop, and you have blouses for sale for L$380, then it probably is. I'll shop elsewhere thank you.

The Nikki Ree Butt Hurt Dress Part 2

Hey Nikki commented about the Butt Hurt dress and her comment was so cool I thought I would put it up on the front page. She was so nice, actually, that I kind of feel bad about calling the dress the Nikki Ree Butt Hurt dress but that's how I think of it now so I think the nickname is permanent. For what its worth I have the Mara Dress from last year's RFL and I also have a LOT of Nikki's stuff -- I love her store. Anyway, in case y'all were not going to buy because of my post, listen to what Nikki has to say about her dress because her comment was the coolest thing EVAR until the next coolest comment EVAR.

As for the flower motif at the seams, I meant it to be like a dress pattern for the fabric so I left the slight imperfection matching at the seams as it was to reflect how a dress like these would appear IRL - but if you prefer one that is totally seamless do give me a private IM and I quickly do one up for you :).

I do try to show every angle of the dress in my posters for the product, even the sides but if you are not sure about a product do give me an IM or Mui Mukerji who has kindly offered to help me when I am busy or not online to view the item in world before buying.

As for the price, this is due to various factors, Mara being only exclusive for RFL never sold after RFL and 100% of the proceeds of the sale of Mara Floral collections are for RFL 2009. Plus Mara Floral does comes in various skirt styles and options.

But I do offer some simple 100L Satin Shine Gowns in Steel and Yellow for RFL. Perhaps that would be in the spending and donation bracket comfortable for some :).

But at the end of the day :) which ever amount you donate is up to you, I have a 0L Satin Shine Gown in Lime and Pink set up in my store and everyone is encourage to donate to the RFL kiosk for those 0L gowns.

Did you see that part in bold? DAMN YOU NIKKI REE NOW I HAVE TO GO TO YOUR STORE AND DONATE MONEY AND GET THE 0L GOWNS AND POST ABOUT THEM!!!! *shakes fist at sky*

This is a plot to part me from my lindens isn't it?

Loot from the Clothing Fair: Nikki Ree

So by now you know that I went to the Clothing Fair and dumped a metric buttload of money on the Relay for Life. I thought I'd do a few posts to showcase some of my loot. First up, the gown that I have affectionately named the Nikki Ree Butthurt Dress. This dress hurts in more ways than one. Now don't get me wrong -- its a gorgeous gown. I love this gown. But it is full of butthurt.

First it cost EIGHTEEN HUNDRED LINDEN!!!!!!! $L1880 to be exact. Ouchies. But it was for a good cause and it was beautiful so I bought it. Now I'm a little hesitant to post the rest of this because I think it will hurt the sales of this dress which all go to RFL. So let me say this. This is one gorgeous dress. If you modify your shape (which you will clearly need to do given what comes below) then no one will ever see gripe number 2 except you. Its a beautiful dress that you will be happy to wear at any formal function. If you have 2K to give to the RFL and you like the first pic, then buy the dress and know that you've sacrificed for a good cause.

Is this not a gorgeous gown? I think its a gorgeous gown.

Anyway after admiring myself from a frontal view, I turned to the side. Holy wide load Batman, lookit mah butt!

OMFG lookit mah butt!!!! I could kill people with this butt! This is like two butts in one!

So in the first pic I have toned down my butt to ZERO. Yes that's right, in the first pic my butt is nonexistent. Except that, its still a big butt with a butt of zero -- its just an acceptable will-not-crush-small-woodland-animals-if-I-sit-down big butt rather than something that needs a wide load sign.

Oh and don't get me wrong. This is not a rant about fat people. I'm a fat person with a big butt in real life but holy shit did you see that picture? LOOKIT MAH BUTT! Its SO big! Seriously. I bought another gown that did not make my butt look like that and I will showcase it later. So its clearly the design of the dress that is doing this to me.

Last but not least are the seams. Now I know that seams are hard to get perfect. But for 1800 linden, they should be better than this:

For $L1880 you can't do better than that?????

I mean I never would have looked if it had been 200L. I wouldn't care for 200L. But for 1880L -- Yeah I care.

Ok more loot posts coming up soon. Itemization of full outfit below:

Nikki Ree Butthurt dress: Nikki Ree Designs, available only at the RFL clothing fair
Hair: Tami McCoy, Sunshine bangs and flowers, Romantic Midnight updo
Necklace and Earrings: Muse Celine white pearl/silver set
Shoes: Coconut Ice Fae Jewel Midnight Slippers
Stockings: Zullay Thor ZD Pirate Grace Thigh Highs (part of an outfit)

Vivi goes to the clothing fair

Usually I am a huge supporter of the Relay for Life. I am on a team, I organize and attend fundraising events, I DJ the actual Relay and also the clothing fair. This year I am not on any teams and I didn't DJ at all and I've felt like a bit of a slacker. I decided to go to the Relay for Life Clothing Fair with the express intention of spending money only on those items made for the Relay. So I stripped down to my bald ARC-of-1 self, (wearing a beautiful ensemble by Armidi by the way which is not made any better and might actually be made worse by that piece of shit flap they call a "skirt") and went to the clothing fair.

Vivi in front of the Ookami Ningen booth at the Relay for Life Clothing Fair

It looked like most designers had put a fair amount of energy and time into the Clothing Fair and I was not dissapointed at all. The space was not really *that* laggy 4 days after opening. It was kind of spread out but the decor was nice and clean and I did not have trouble navigating around. And there were a lot of things I wanted to buy -- good for the American Cancer Society (ACS).

I can echo the complaints of some of the others. My time is limited in SL. Most of the time I didn't even know who I was buying from as I was only interested in buying items where the proceeds went to the ACS and I did not bother to even browse the rest of the shops. So it would have been nice, and it would have saved me a bunch of time, to be able to go to some central location and just look at the RFL items.

Now you may say to yourself, or to me, "damn Vivi you can't even spare a little time for the American Cancer Society?" Well of course I can. I went, I saw, I shopped. I donated a metric buttload (which I am informed is more than oogobs but less than a royal fuckton) of cash on the ACS. But that's not the point. The point is to make it easy for me to spend even more money. You want me to drop that royal fuckton of cash on the ACS -- that is the idea. I left when I got tired of walking around 9 sims and ran out of time. Who knows how much I might have dropped if it had been easy.

(edit: I ran into Pips Fetid at the fair and told her this. She said they'd heard this from a bunch of people and would consider it for next year. How cool is that!?)

OMG the Snatch booth had a llama ride! Neat, huh?

Other than that, I really have no complaints. It was pleasantly laid out, the shops all looked nice -- what I saw of them. It was easy to navigate. I even discovered a bunch of new shops once I got home and opened my packages. Kudos to Snatch for the llama ride :)

Don't treat your customers like crap!

Crap is Tenshi's job. (IT'S A JOKE AND THE NAME OF HER STORE!!!)

But seriously folks, I'm here to rant about a disturbing new trend I just heard about. It seems certain hair manufacturers have added a script to their hair wherein if you res the hair on the ground it will delete itself because those who use copybot res hair on the ground. Those who alter hair to fit their head also res hair on the ground, but that doesn't matter. Those who like to take scripts out of hair res hair on the ground, but that doesn't matter. Those who need to refit hair also res hair on the ground, but that doesn't matter either. No, what matters is that someone who uses copybot reses hair on the ground. And for that we must all suffer.

Let me say that the first time I get a note from a manufacturer saying that I can't res something on the ground becuase copybot users do that, is the last time I'll be shopping on that store. And I'll tell my friends. I might even post it on this blog. I will go out of my way to ensure that store loses business. Why? Becuase you just treated me like a criminal even though I might be a long time customer who has spent hundreds of dollars at your store over the years.

News flash folks! People who use copybot aren't buying items at your store. Your loyal customers are. People who want to steal from you won't read those signs you have plastered all over your store telling us how rotten we are and how OMG THIS COPYRIGHT BELONGS TO YOU!!! No shit Sherlock, we, your loyal customers, the people that have to wait for all these fucking signs to res when all we want to do is spend money at your establishment, know this.

So instead of concentrating on new ways to anger your customers whom you've obviously mistaken for a select few that have specialized knowledge of how to use a complicated theft program, why not concentrate instead on building customer loyalty? You already have the tools to go after thieves -- DMCA and the courts. Stroker proved it can be done and documented evidence is the way to travel. Your little scripts won't work and your signs won't work becuase the only people those affect are the people buying your product. Or did you think that someone who was motivated enough to learn how to use copybot wouldn't travel to a no-script sim, remove your script, and copy it anyway?

Slick Subscribe-O-Matic Group!

I've set up a Subscribe-O-Matic kiosk at Slick on Mikianna. Currently it'll give out a set of previously-unreleased stockings - La Nymphe!

You can join the Subscribe-O-Matic group (which won't take up a precious group slot) by going to Slick and clicking the kiosk out front.

I've also got two releases coming out later this week - so keep your eyes peeled. :)

Pixel Mode!

Hello Hello Hello and welcome to the second new author in one day!

I know you know about the awesomeness that is Pixel Mode. Tya Fallingbridge is an amazing designer and she not only does shoes, boots, awesome clothing, hair but makes fabu prefabs too. She has a new blog and it isn't linked to FashionPlanet yet so she's going to be posting her new stuff here for a bit until that happens.

Look for her to post about her awesome new shoes (I'm currently at the Duchess dancing with Beebo -- come by in about an hour for a preview of the shoes) tonight or tomorrow.

In the meantime, if you just can't wait and want to wear some seriously awesome boots, go by her shop. Here's an SLURL.

Slick!

Hey all you groovy fashion guys and gals. My good friend Coyote Momiji (and isn't that the coolest name EVAR?!) makes this faaabulousio latex stuffs. The store is called Slick and the stuff in it is slick indeed. I have purchased at least one of everything in her store and some I have purchased two of. Its always a race to see if I can buy it before she gives it to me. Today she won and she's about to make a post here about her amazing new Circe (yes THAT Circe) boots.

So she has this blog that she posts all her stuff in and I said to her today: "Coyo you gotta get yerself on Fashion Planet!" So she's going to do that. But Tao is a busy guy and it takes him a while sometimes so until that gets done, I made her a login to post here.

So look for Coyo right here at the Llama's Den and lots of groovalistic latexy stuffs. Oh yeah and just in case you don't want to wait for the posts -- you can go right there. Here's a SLURL!

Weeeeee! Finding out about new stores is fun!

New from Slick - Circe Boots

Thanks, Vivi, for the intro.

Hi everyone! Last night I released a new product from my store, Slick.

I figured everyone should have a product named after them, and my sister Circe Timtam is no exception.

These boots come in 11 colors - Black, Charcoal, White, Pink, Red, Mocksoup Orange, Yellow, Green, Launay Teal, Blue and Violet - and are copy only.

Each color is 99L, and the fatpack of all 11 colors is 399L for a limited time only. :)

Feel free to come on by. In the next week or two I'll be setting up camping chairs with special prizes, and releasing even more goodies.

Come on by to Slick. :) I'd love to see you.

No I'm not back

Oh Hai! You thought I died I bet. Well I'm not really back -- not in any real sense of the word anyways. Just feeling a bit grouchy and wanted to expound on a few things before bouncing too far into 09.

1a. You know those little prim flaps that designers put on shorts and call them skirts? They are ugly, they don't match the color or texture of the shorts, and they don't look like skirts -- they look like little prim flaps on shorts. Pls stop.

1b. You know how sometimes prims on clothes don't match the system clothes beneath and designers blame it on windlight? Its not windlight. The designer is wrong. The designer did a poor job. Its really not your video card and its really not windlight.

1c. Note to designers: If you can't get the mofo to match don't freaking sell it for crying out loud. But photoshopping your ad and packaging to make it all match and then telling your customers they have to adjust it themselves to make it all match according to their video card sucks major amounts of ass and should lose you the customer.

2. You know when you are stealing. You know when you are not being ethical. You know when you are stealing, not being ethical, and can get away with it because there's no express law saying that you can't. But you are still an unethical thief. If you think this applies to you, you might want to take a look at your business practices and what it is you do that makes you think it applies to you. And really it shouldn't take a blogger on the internet to point this out.

3. The ARC is a lie. It doesn't mean anything. Really. Stop using it as an excuse to make ugly stuff. If you are in a place where ARC matters take off ALL your scripts and prims and strip down to system clothing. But ARC is not really a good indicator of lag... or to put it differently, I can cause all kinds of lag and still have an ARC of 1. Ask me how!

4. Teh dramaz is fun -- or at least interesting.

5. Best model? Seriously? Is this like.. the person with the most poses in his or her inventory? I mean what are the qualifications here? "Can hop on pose ball better than anyone else in SL?"

6a. Just because you can make clothing out of prims doesn't mean you should. Note to prim clothing makers: Not all avies are the same shape as yours. Maybe offering sizes would be a good idea. Just a thought. Cause y'know, if I buy something, spend half an hour trying to get it to fit and then it still doesn't it and then I delete it -- well I never go back to that store.

6b. Do you folks realize how much time it takes to adjust a belt that's part of the skirt or dress and is, itself, many more than one prim? If I had that much time to build a damn belt I would not have bought it in the first place -- I would have built it. I bought it because I either can't and don't want to build it myself. Now here I am building because it doesn't fit. Whats wrong with this picture?

7. Prim feet that don't match your skin? How did this become a good idea? Remember when newb men would go get free peni and it wouldn't match their skin and we would all point and laugh at them? This is the same thing only women do it with their feet. I don't get it.

Now that I've pissed off all the designers in SL I think I'll crawl back under my rock. BAI!
